Most of the people has this confusion about losing fat and losing weight. We usually think that they are the same, but they are not (mostly).
When I started my fat loss journey (in fact, weight loss journey, in the beginning), I had this confusion too. But, as soon as I got to know the difference, I changed my goal from losing weight to losing fat.
So, before you start your journey, let me explain that why losing fat is healthier than losing weight.
Lose fat, keep the healthy weight
Losing weight always seems the same as losing fat but in this process you are not only losing the fat but also losing your muscle and water.
Many weight loss programs claim to help you lose weight fast, but they never tell you that you will also lose the most important components of your body.
Losing weight in the form of muscle can reduce the numbers of calories you burn at rest and that's the reason why people regain weight.
Losing fat is specific and healthier than losing weight as it focuses on maintaining healthy weight by losing fat only.
Ways to lose fat and gain or maintain muscle
Here are a few simple ways to gain or maintain muscle while losing fat.
Eat plenty of proteins
Each protein is made up of amino acids, they play a vital role in the growth and repair of muscle. They also reduces the hunger level which help you eat fewer calories.
There are many animal-based and plant-based dietary sources of proteins like eggs, nuts, beans, milk and meat.
Exercise
Exercise is the most effective way to lose fat while maintaining or gaining muscle. Strength training builds lean muscle mass, which both increases your metabolism and decreases fat.
So, exercise is very important while losing fat, as the more muscle you build, the more fat you burn.
Additionally, consume more water as dehydration can make you less physically active and you can lose your strength too. I would suggest to eat at least one cucumber daily.
